UCSC Online Education occasionally partners with different campus units to develop courses or video series for a particular purpose. You can find examples of four featured partnership projects below.
Partners: UC Santa Cruz Theater Arts Department, with support from Porter College and the Arts Division at UCSC, and the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History.
Project: 3 Minutes Moving
Accomplished teachers in dance, martial arts, and contemplative movement practices invite you to move your body in a series of short videos. 3 Minutes Moving (3MM) provides easy access to physical engagement with three-minute movement experiences designed to increase physical engagement and promote health and wellness. These practices are for every body; no previous movement training is needed. There are no rules. Participants may move through 3MM practices in any order. Find one form and practice it everyday, or pick and choose along the way.
Partners: Division of Graduate Studies and Center for Innovations in Teaching and Learning
Project: Teaching as an Ethical Practice: A Guide for Teaching Assistants
The online course, required for all new graduate student Teaching Assistants, reviews professional ethics with a special attention to educational equity and accessibility. The online format offers convenience, more in-depth teaching resources, an introduction to key campus resources, and an ongoing reference guide that graduate students can continue to use throughout their teaching careers on campus. A sample video from the course, featuring Mecaila Smith and Cynthia Tibbetts, can be viewed below.
Partner: Staff Human Resources, Department of Learning and Development
Project: UCSC Health & Wellness Video Series
With an award from Healthy Campus Network, our team produced a series of videos on personal mental wellbeing practices featuring campus leaders (Marlene Tromp, Jody Greene, Bettina Aptheker, Meg Corman). Project: UCSC Slugs Traveling Home
With an award from UCSC Carbon Fund, we produced a video targeted at students curious about traveling to South California for holidays. The quirky video features our undergraduate student assistants and presents different ways of traveling from Santa Cruz to LA.
